Pacquiao vs Margarito Match Will Be Exciting

July 29, 2010
Instead of having a rematch with Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto for his middleweight title, Manny Pacquiao chooses Mexican Antonio Margarito for November 13 bout. Pacquiao said “That’s good!” when asked about his possible clash with the former World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Margarito. Pacquiao also told a reporter from the Philippines that he is willing to fight Margarito around 147-150 pounds. In fact Antonio Margarito has agreed to meet Manny Pacquiao at the catch weight of 150 lbs, or 4 lbs below the 154 limit. This is the advantage of having two fighters under one promoter. Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito will face each Justify Fullother for the vacant WBC light middleweight title. While his November 13 bout has not yet been finalized, Pacquiao is certain that he will train in Manila and will go to Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California 3 weeks before the fight. For the meantime Margarito’s camp are trying to get his new licensed to fight again in the US. Margarito was suspended when he was caught using, without his knowledge as he claims, illegal hand wraps, leading to the suspension of his fight license in the United States prior to his bout against Shane Mosley on January 2009.

Even the four-time Trainer of the Year recipient also downplayed the Mexican’s ability to fire a good punch. Freddie Roach said that Margarito has a good chin, but a good punch? He doesn’t know. He added, “Let him wrap his own hands, and he’s got a good punch (laughs).” Pacquiao earlier said he is very much willing to face Margarito, despite the Mexican champ’s height advantage. Margarito is a big welterweight with a chin like a fire hydrant. It would be a serious challenge for Pacquiao, much more difficult of a fight than the DeLa Hoya fight. I would think Margarito would be the heavy favorite, but then again I thought DeLa Hoya would pose problems for Manny, and I was dead wrong. Pacquiao destroy DeLa Hoya with an ease that was terrifying. I think Manny Pacquiao is ready for a real welterweight, but I think it had better be someone other than Margarito. As for Pacquiao, I think that Pacquiao would take early rounds with his speed and proven ability to get inside bigger men with footwork and head movement. Margarito, who stands 5-foot-11, enjoys a 6-inch reach advantage over the 5-foot-6 Filipino boxer. I haven’t seen Margarito actual fights but If he’s that good then I don’t think Pacquiao will back down a fight against a bigger and taller Margarito. Pacquiao is the kind of fighter who likes to fight stronger opponents. The one thing you know for sure with Pacquiao vs Margarito fight is that it will be a hell of a fight for however long it lasts.

Pacquiao vs Margarito on November 13

The unexpected fight happens but the expected fight never happen. That is why my colleagues told me “expect the unexpected”. When Top Rank promoter Bob Arum confirmed the Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will face Mexico’s Antonio Margarito on November 13. Over the last year or so the interest that has surrounded this possible bout has been unseen in the boxing world for a long time; we all want to know how Lost will end, but absolutely everyone wants to know who will come out on top in this battle. I’ve spent the last few days studying both fighters, from Pacquiao’s fights with Cotto and Clottey, the suspension of license of Margarito caught using illegal hand wraps, to Floyd’s unanimous decision over Mosley and a dramatic win of Cotto against Foreman. I’ve picked apart their styles and finally managed to conclude my thoughts on this fight. Not everyone will agree with my thoughts, but that is boxing and that is what makes this fight so interesting. Arum said that Manny Pacquiao picked Margarito over Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto, whom Pacquiao pummeled in the 12th round last November, because it would be a more challenging fight than fighting Miguel Cotto in a rematch and they see it not marketable anymore. Pacquiao will face Margarito for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight championship in Las Vegas if the Mexican is able to get a license to fight in Nevada. And if Pacquiao beat Margarito, he will become the 1st boxer to win 8 world titles in 8 divisions. As we all know, the contrast in style between the two fighters is huge, with Manny being a gung-ho offensive master and Margarito is big, strong chin, aggressive style, good punching power, good offensive skills, tough and determined. This clash of styles is what’s making this possible bout so interesting and hard to predict. Both fighters have their flaws and both fighters have had trouble against similar fighters to each other. I’m going to stick my neck out and say how I think this fight is going to pan out, some of you may already know who I’m backing for this fight but I think it’s important that everyone backs up their predictions with thoughts and reasoning. I’m not going to pick a winner, or a result, who knows how things will turn out in the ring on November 13, 2010, but all the ingredients are there for this Pacquiao vs Margarito mega-fight, now its all up to the two men, Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito when they step into the ring to give us something we’ve seen in the past and bring it back to the present. Anyways, this scheduled bout will be aired on HBO PPV.

Pacquiao vs Margarito replace Mayweather

So it is really confirmed that the next fight of Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao will be Antonio Margarito of Mexico. WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will move up to the junior middleweight division to challenge Antonio Margarito for the vacant WBC title on November 13. That ends any possibility of a match between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., the top two boxers in the world, for 2010. Manny Pacquiao already agreed to take a blood test 14 days before the fight but Mayweather still demanding for more. And when Bob Arum gives Mayweather’s camp a deadline to agree on such terms Mayweather’s camp did not response. Manny wants to and has to fight in November. So they have to proceed in getting him an opponent and wrapping up a fight. So, Pacquiao vs Mayweather, goodbye! Weeks later, Arum decided to either Cotto or Margarito will be the next for Pacquiao. If Pacquiao face Miguel Cotto a second time or take on Antonio Margarito for the first time. Either way, he gets a crack at an eighth world title in eight different weight divisions. For Pacquiao, whatever will happen on November against Margarito, winner or lose he will retire in boxing.

Bob Arum head of Top Rank and promoter of Pacquiao decided to choose Margarito instead of Miguel Cotto, whom Pacquiao stopped in the 12th round last November, because it would be perceived as a more competitive bout. I don’t think people believe that it’s enough to make a difference and I’m not sure they would buy it as competitive. Once the fight is sealed, either between Pacquiao vs Margarito, a major press conference will take place early August. It will be Margarito’s first fight since he lost to Shane Mosley in January last year when he was caught using, without his knowledge as he claims, illegal hand wraps, leading to the suspension of his fight license in the United States. If that would be Margarito’s next fight then we will apply for a license in the state that the fight is going to take place and it couldn’t be in California for the reason that Manny Pacquiao won’t fight in California because of state taxes.

Only three states in the US can host a Pacquiao fight because of friendlier taxes, and they’re Nevada, Florida and the new favorite, Texas. If Margarito fails to get a license in Nevada, the fight will be held in Monterrey, Mexico. Margarito, who stands 5-foot-11, enjoys a 6-inch reach advantage over the 5-foot-6 Filipino boxer. Pacquiao said he has no problem about climbing weight to face the Mexican. Pacquiao vs Margarito. If Pacquiao gets $30 million or more, this is a great challenge. Both are at the peaks of their career. Antonio is good, but Manny has already proven that he is unbeatable, fearless, skillful and a great giant killer. Antonio is the last great Mexican world champion standing. When Manny beats Margarito like other great Mexican champions, he will be considered the best in the world. With this fight there is no question that Manny will shatter Oscars vs Floyd’s record ppv of 2.44 million. Its time to shock the world again Pacquiao vs Margarito is on. Arum said he plans on finalizing the deal with Pacquiao next week. Arum said Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz will lay out the terms of deal to the Filipino. So, lets all wait and see the final deals between the two camps.

Pacquiao vs Margarito Bout Looking Good

The Pacquiao vs Margarito bout is really looking good as of now. Bob Arum is now finalizing their November bout for the vacant WBC junior middleweight title. WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will move up to the junior middleweight division to challenge Antonio Margarito. Everybody’s talking this Pacquiao vs Margarito fight on the TV or in the internet, as this future bout is shaping up even faster than the proposed fight between the Filipino pound-for-pound champion and his arch rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. I think its time to forget the mega-fight between Pacquiao vs Mayweather because it would never happen. I think that with all the obstacles standing between Pacquiao and Mayweather for their greatest fight of all time, a fight with Margarito would make more sense and exciting to watch. When Pacquiao decided to choose Margarito instead of Miguel Cotto whom Pacquiao stopped Cotto in the 12th round last November, it will not be marketable and not a competitive fight. I don’t think people believe that it’s enough to make a difference and I’m not sure they would buy it as competitive. So, Pacquiao decided to fight Margarito because it would be perceived as a more competitive bout. Pacquiao wants to get a new division title before he retires. He eyes Miguel Cotto who also has a middleweight championship belt after Cotto beat Foreman, and there’s a vacant WBC Junior Middleweight title so either way, he gets a crack at an eighth world title in eight different weight divisions. Bob Arum is now busy finalizing other terms and deals between the two fighters so that these Pacquiao vs Margarito fight will happen later this year. Arum said he plans on finalizing the deal with Pacquiao next week. If the fight happens between Pacquiao vs Margarito, a major press conference will take place early August. The next problem will be the venue for this Pacquiao vs Margarito fight. There so many places has already in consideration to be chosen Mexico, Abu Dhabi and only three states in the US can host a Pacquiao vs Margarito because of friendlier taxes, and they’re Nevada, Florida and Texas. But when it comes who aired the bout it will be offered on HBO pay-per-view (PPV).

Breakdown for Pacquiao vs Margarito Fight

The negotiations are still on-going between the fight of Pacquiao vs Margarito who will set this November 13, 2010 for one of the biggest boxing fight this year. Pacquiao are now agree to take the fight versus Margarito. The only left is Margarito’s camp to also agree on some terms. With this result, a new boxing star was born, comparisons were starting to be made between Pacquiao vs Margarito, and the thought of a mouth watering welterweight showdown between the two was starting to seem all the more realistic.

Now with the welterweight division as good as cleared out, with just Pacquiao and Margarito truly left to argue for the best welterweights in the worlds and no.1 welterweight crown, surely, they MUST be on a collision course to fight as the hype, pressure and expectation for the two to meet up is so huge, that the money involved would be too much to ignore? You’d certainly hope so, and without playing any blame game as to who’s fault it is for the fight not happening, all I hope for is that they can both set aside their differences and make the fight happen, as we have not had the potential for such a huge fight since the days of Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler.

As to how I would see a Pacquaio vs Margarito fight going down, I’m leaning slightly towards Pacquiao in a close and epic encounter. I believe that Pacquiao defense, footwork, speed and counter punching skill would be the deciding factor, with Pacquiaos explosive speed, power and amazing stamina giving Margarito a hard time early on and having moments throughout, with Margarito ultimately pulling out enough to get the win. The main reason that I see this happening is because Pacquiao hasn’t fought a true boxer since Juan Manuel Marquez, and whilst I think Manny has improved alot since then, Margarito should have enough to be able to outbox him. Well let’s all find out. Watch Pacquiao vs Margarito Online.

What are Pacquiao’s Chances Against Margarito?

So what do you think chances of Pacquiao vs Margarito if ever they face each other this November 13 2010? Boxing fans are anticipating a showdown between the two best welterweight fighters. Bob Arum, is working to forge a deal with the Mayweather camp for the mega fight planned on November 13 but turned down by Mayweather. The 7-division champ Pacquiao’s chances against Margarito will depend on how he handles the first half of his fight against Margarito. Pacquiao would have to survive at least five rounds with Margarito to get a chance of beating.

If Pacquiao fights him, Margarito is likely going to hit him with a big right hand in the first five rounds. If Manny Pacquiao doesn’t go down or get badly hurt, Manny Pacquiao is either going to beat Antonio Margarito or he is going to make it such an exciting, hellacious fight that we are going to all be happy. However, Margarito’s camp has yet to issue a formal statement regarding Pacquiao’s decision. Either way it will probably be quite some time before an official announcement is made on whether the Pacquiao vs Margarito fight will happen or not. I think it was just a ploy on the part of Floyd and his people that got out of hand. I think once they took that position, they couldn’t back off from it. I hope we watch Pacquiao vs Margarito this November 13 this will be an exciting match.

Pacquiao vs Margarito or Pacquiao vs Cotto?

Pacquiao vs Margarito is On! Since that Floyd Mayweather did not react on the deadline given by Bob Arum, I think Mayweather does not want to fight Pacquiao he’s still scared to fight Pacquiao and lose his precious unbeaten records. Now, Manny Pacquiao has to choose between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito whom he wants to fight next. Arum also said during the interview that the choice of Manny will not be his nor Roach, but it’s all up to the pound-for-pound king himself. Once the fight is sealed, either between Cotto or Margarito, a major press conference will take place early this August. “We will have to do press conferences a lot further out because he will be training for the fight while being a congressman and he will have to fit his training into the legislative sessions. I understand that the congress sits three days a week,” Arum explained. Arum said it’s all up to Pacquiao whether he wants to face Cotto a second time or take on Antonio Margarito for the first time. Either way, he gets a crack at an eighth world title in eight different weight divisions. Ok let’s put down this what if Manny Pacquiao chose Miguel Cotto? Well, for I think Pacquiao can beat Cotto again for the second time even if Cotto suggested that he should fight Pacquiao above 150. And a rematch with Cotto would not be as exciting anymore because we will already know who will going to win if this two meet once again. On the other hand Antonio Margarito is another Mexican fighter who loves to fight until the end of the rounds. He is also a tough warrior just like that of Manny Pacquiao. I haven’t seen Margarito fights but if he’s that good. I don’t think Pacquiao will back down a fight against Margarito. Margarito is big, strong and durable but he can only be effective if he can catch Manny inside the ring. Pacquiao is the kind of fighter who likes to fight stronger opponents. He likes to be the underdog. Just like when he first fought Barrera when he (Barrera) was on his prime (2003).The challenge like this will make Pacquiao more excited more motivated to train harder to become the best boxer that he can be. . I think Manny Pacquiao is ready for a real welterweight, but I think it had better be someone other than Margarito. So I think let’s all find out during the fight on who will win between Pacquiao vs Margarito if Pacquiao chooses Margarito instead of Cotto.
